Create in Me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10

Most people have a room in their house that they keep cleaner than others.  Also, when cleaning, many people start in certain rooms that are central to their existence.  Rooms that serve as the nerve center of your life, such as the kitchen, family room, or den.  When these important rooms become dirty and cluttered, their disorganization has a tendency to keep feeling off-balanced.

Whichever room is the nerve center of your life, in your spiritual life, the nerve center is what the bible calls our “heart.”   This does not refer to the physical organ in our chest, but the place where our mind, will, and emotions merge to create our spiritual life.

When our heart is dirty and disorganized it also has a great impact on the rest of our lives.  When King David sinned against Bathsheba and her husband Uriah, David struggled with an unclean heart for many months.  Finally, one day he confessed his sins and asked God for a clean heart.

Does your heart need a good spring cleaning? Our God is a loving God, extending grace and mercy to all those who seek him.   He is ready to hear your prayer, all you need to do is talk to Him! (1 John 1:9)
